Meet the Botanical Photographer Behind Vibrant Botanicals
Hello, I’m Mel Parker, the photographer and creator behind Vibrant Botanicals, a project I founded in 2012 to share my passion for the beauty of plants through fine art botanical photography.
From an early age I have been fascinated by plants and nature. This love of the natural world continues to inspire my work today, where I focus on capturing the delicate details, textures, and vibrant colours of flowers and foliage — often revealing forms that are easily overlooked by the naked eye.
Botanical Photography Inspired by Nature
I hold an Advanced Diploma of Photography from TAFE WA, where I refined my technical skills and developed my distinctive approach to macro photography.
Using a Canon 5D full-frame camera with a 100mm macro lens, I photograph flowers and plants using natural light, often in their native environments. Many of my images are captured during quiet walks through the bush, where Western Australian wildflowers reveal their incredible diversity and beauty.
By photographing these botanical subjects up close, I aim to highlight the intricate details that make each plant unique.
From Photography to Botanical Art & Jewellery
At Vibrant Botanicals, my photography is transformed into a curated collection of:

- greeting cards featuring Australian flora
- handcrafted wildflower photo jewellery
Each jewellery piece features fine art photographic prints of my wildflower images, carefully embedded under glass or resin. These wearable pieces of art allow you to carry a small piece of nature with you wherever you go.
The jewellery is handcrafted using materials such as stainless steel, brass, silver-plated brass, glass, and resin.
Earrings feature niobium ear wires, a nickel-free and hypoallergenic precious metal that is safe for sensitive skin.
